Ouch!

Hello fellow stitchy friends!

Well I pulled a 'good one' Friday at work. I fell and broke my kneecap on my right leg. Those stupid accidents happen so fast. Luckily Mike hadn't left for work yet (he works second shift), so he came up to the library and took me to the emergency room for X-rays. I will go see an orthopedic doctor this week. They sent me home with pain pills and a full leg immobilizer brace.

So... I am getting used to walking with crutches. My family has been great taking care of me and getting tasks done at home. Also, I've been spoiled by friends bringing over supper and one of Holly's friends brought lunch over. It's amazing how thoughtful your friends are. I am truly grateful. Another friend, who is a contractor was here constructing a ramp for me getting in and out of the house. I haven't ventured farther than the deck yet....

Believe it or not, I haven't felt like picking up any stitching yet. Hopefully I will soon. I did finish a book this morning tho. I will also take advantage of this 'downtime' to catch up on my blog reading.

Not a pretty site I know.

Well I'll keep you updated on progress here at home.

Take care all, and happy stitching.

  3. Oh no!!! I've broken my leg before so I know how much a broken anything can hurt. I can totally understand why you might not feel like stitching yet. Hopefully the pain will get better, and you will be able to stitch and relax a bit. I'm so sorry this happened! I hope you heal up fast.

  5. Oh I hope that you get back on your feet real soon. I broke my wrist last year (and yes it does happen in the blink of an eye) and my biggest worry was that I wouldn't be able to stitch. I figured out how to hold it with a Qsnap(not my normal way) -but where there is a will there is a way. Rest up - read, and I'm sure the stitching mojo will visit. Take care!

  7. Yikes! Hope workman's comp is covering it for you. Sad to say but the pain pills generally made me not want to stitch but as it heals, I hope you can catch up with some stuff and have a good excuse to stitch.

  8. Oh, that sounds so painful, Melody.... Libraries can be dangerous places--I had a book fall on my foot two summers ago that gave me the most painful deep bone bruise (I was wearing light sandals). I limped around for a good six weeks! Sure hope it heals quickly...
