Quiet Friday
I just finished reading The Silver Boat by Luanne Rice. I really enjoyed it. But I seem to be partial to books set on Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard, as well as those set in South Carolina. Dorothea Benton Frank, Elin Hilderbrand, Nancy Thayer all have written books set in these locales.
I promised I'd share photos of the other members of our stitching group this post...
Dorothy is working on Winter by Cross Eyed Cricket. She has recently completed a beautiful nativity piece done over one thread. It looks like a painting.
That completes our group. We do have fun getting together to stitch. We were at Susie's house this past Monday. She has just moved into a new house, that has a wonderfully large kitchen. So we enjoyed a house tour before starting to stitch.
I have done more reading today than stitching. But, I hated to put the book down, since I saw I was going to be able to finish it today. Maybe I'll go look for a movie to watch and pull out my stitching. It was really nice to have the day off today... I got a few chores accomplished too, so the day wasn't totally lazy..
Happy Stitching!

Betty does beautiful work. Some of her favorite designers are Barbara and Cheryl. She has stitched several of their pieces and has them framed in her home.
Cathy is working on As the Crow Flies. She is a talented stitcher, and has done several beautiful Prairie Schooler pieces as well as many others.

Finished!
"As the Crow Flies" by Prairie Schooler. Finished April 17, 2011.
This was a fun piece to stitch. I did it on lambswool linen. I have a frame from a recent yard sale shopping event, that I think will work just fine for it. I will however, need to get a mat cut to make the frame size work.
I'm not sure what color mat I'm going to get, I'm leaning toward green similar in shade to the trees... any suggestions? I hopefully will make it to Michaels this Saturday to pick out the mat board.
I have started "Spring" by Cricket Collection on Monday, April 18. I think this is going to be a fun 'springy' piece to stitch, lots of pretty bright colors. I'm using dmc for it. The fabric is an overdyed piece of linen. Mine is more green than the color that is shown on the picture above.
My daughter and I had a fun night last Sunday..we saw Elton John in concert. This is the second time I've seen him, and her first. We both had a great time and really enjoyed the music. He was performing only about an hours drive away, so we were thrilled to get tickets to see him.
Our seats weren't too bad, but a little too far away to get any decent pictures.
Not sure what's in store for this weekend...I'm planning on fixing Easter dinner for the four of us here on Sunday. I'm thrilled to have a long weekend. The library is closed on Good Friday and the Saturday after. I still have to decide on the menu for Sunday and pick up any last minute extras for it. I already have the ham in the refrigerator. Everyone has requested their favorite items for the menu, but it would be fun to find something a little different to add. I get tired of the same favorites...
I hope to not wait so long to do another post. I have some pictures to share next time from our last stitching group gathering. However, they are on my phone, and I have to get hubby to help me upload those to the computer.
I'll close this post with a recent favorite picture of Annie. She was posing in her favorite goofy position...
Our local newspaper is requesting that readers submit photos of their cats, so I had to send in a couple. It will be fun to see if they make the paper or not.
Until next time, happy stitching, and hope you all have a joyous Easter.

Busy Week...
We had Stitch group at our house this past Monday night, and I took pictures of the girls with their wips. This is Jane. She is working on a beautiful big sampler. I'm sorry to say I didn't take note of the name of it... This is her second large sampler in a row. She does beautiful work.
This is Susie proudly displaying her wip: Autumn at Hawk's Run Hollow. This is her second Hawk's Run piece, she completed Christmas at Hawk's Run Hollow last year. I just love these designs. I've done Village at Hawk's Run Hollow and Christmas as well. Not framed yet tho. Susie is much quicker at getting them framed.
This is Barb, she is showing Liberty by Little House Needleworks. She gets to come to stitch group when she is visiting us in IL. She lives in California. So we are always happy when she can join us!
This is Melanie, working on a Prairie Schooler ornament on paper. She has done lots of these small designs on paper.
And lastly, here I am working on As the Crow Flies by Prairie Schooler.
Three of our regular attendees were missing, Dorothy was on vacation, Cathy and Betty were under the weather. But we do have a good time when we get together to stitch! We take turns going to various houses, and meet every other Monday night.
I have been enjoying working on As the Crow Flies. It seems to be going pretty quick. While Barb was here visiting this past week, we made a trip to Clinton, IA to the cross stitch shop there. It is a nice shop, and the closest one to where I live. I only bought a small La Di Da chart...I have several projects waiting in line for my attention...
I found some frames at a yard sale yesterday. I'm happy to say, however, none of them fit anything in my finished drawer... But, I will hang onto them because I'm sure something will get stitched that will fit... ha!
This has been a busy week at work. Glad it's the weekend. I'm tackling the laundry pile today. It's really warm out and the sun is shining. It's nearly 80 degrees! It is supposed to be warm tomorrow too, but then we have a good chance of severe weather tomorrow night... So typical of Spring weather here in the Midwest. (maybe some of those leaves left from last fall will blow away...) I can only hope....
Well, best go load the washer and dryer again. I plan to fit some stitching time in too.
Happy stitching!
