Friday at last

Hello Dear Stitching Friends!

I am so happy it is Friday once again.  It has been a busy week.  I am looking forward to the weekend, to have some more time to work on more finishing touches for our newly re-done rooms.
They are still a little too bare.  I am having trouble with the naked walls.  A good friend of our daughter's was over the other night, and remarked it didn't seem like 'our house' with no cross stitch pieces hanging on the walls.  ha!  How true is that.  While, I don't want to hang a multitude of things up, I need to have some of my favorites...

So, we will see what the weekend brings.  I will be heading out the door for work soon.  I have dinner in the crockpot.  (what a good feeling that is).  The sun is shining here with a beautiful blue sky.  The trees outside my window are putting forth their little green bouquets that precede the leaves.  The grass is incredibly green.  All the rain we have had this Spring is really making everything green.  We went from a drought last year to an abundance of moisture this Spring.  I feel bad for the people that live along the Illinois river, the Rock river and Mississippi river.  They are getting flooded out this year.  I guess it is a record breaker in the Peoria area.  We were fortunate to just have a little water in our basement.  Nothing was spoiled or ruined.  We don't store anything of any importance down there anymore.  I would hate to think of what some of these folks are facing in loss and clean up.

When we were putting the furniture back downstairs, Mike had the excellent idea of putting my computer desk in front of the window.  I agreed, and now think what a wonderful idea he had.  I am enjoying watching the robins gather scraps of things in the side yard for their nest building, and watching the trees send forth their Spring growth of green.  I am trying hard not to focus on the raking that needs to be done....   :)

I am trying hard to get my stitching mojo back.  I worked last night on Patriot's Inn by LHN.  Only to find I had miscounted the house, and had major ripping to do.  I don't know what my problem is.  I think some of it was stitching when I was just too tired from everything else.   At least, that is the best reason I can come up with.  I need to get back in gear for sure.

Sorry for no pictures in this post.  I am using the desktop computer rather than my ipad.  I don't have any recent pictures saved on this computer.

Well, heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it's off to work I go.... smiling because it's Friday.

Happy stitching friends.

Almost done

Hello stitching friends

I just wanted to share an update that our rooms are habitable once again!

We all worked hard over the weekend, the woodwork got put back, the carpeting finished, and tile laid at the front door entry.

That was Saturday, then on Sunday we moved the furniture back downstairs. Including my books getting put away in their bookcases. Some details remain. I have to pick out curtains for the computer/library/office. And then I have to figure out what I want to rehang on the walls. It looks bare with naked walls!

But everything is clean and the walls look so good! I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

I still have to bring some of my stitching supplies downstairs.

Maybe there is hope now to have some time again for stitching...

Thanks for reading another post that really isn't about stitching at all, but I wanted to share it on my blog.

Hope all of you are having some great stitching progress on all those beautiful projects you have in the works. I'm also slowly getting caught up on reading blogs. I am using Blog Lovin, I am getting used to it, but still kind of miss google reader.

Happy stitching!

Words can't describe the dust

Hello stitching friends!

It seems like forever since my last post. A lot has happened around here. I mentioned that Mike and David were embarking on gutting our living room, and computer room. Well, they started on the Saturday before Easter. I had (foolishly) thought Easter dinner would happen. Well, with the massive amounts of dust rolling around, dinner wasn't going to happen while plaster and lathe were still coming down.

Holly and I left with my niece Barb on Monday morning after Easter to head off on a road trip to visit friends in North Carolina. North Topsail Beach, actually. I felt pretty guilty taking off and leaving Mike and David home with the big job going on.

But the boys thought it would be much easier to work on the house with Holly and I out of the way...bless them.

We stopped in Mount Airy,NC on our way out. It is the town that the Andy Griffith show was based on. That has always been one of our favorite shows. It was a fun stop.

Holly had to pose sitting at Andy's desk in the Courthouse. We also stopped at Floyd's Barber Shop and met the barber that the character of Floyd was based from! He is 95 years old and still cutting hair. He was such a sweetheart to visit with us.

A replica of the Darlings cabin was there too.

We arrived at our friends lovely beach side home in North Topsail. What a location...the ocean across from your front door, and the intercostal waterway outside your back door.... They were such gracious hosts. We had such a nice visit with them.

This was the view from their kitchen window.

And a view of the intercostal waterway from their back deck.

On the drive home we stopped in Memphis TN for a day. Barb made reservations at The Peabody Hotel. What a nice stay that was!

I had to play tourist a take some pictures of the famous Peabody ducks leaving the fountain in the lobby to go back to their home on the rooftop. It was quite the event.

We didn't visit any stitching shops on our trip...I know total shocker!? But we had a great time.

And, I know you're wondering what we came home to....? Well, the guys worked like crazy and had all the drywall up and primed. I couldn't believe how far they had gotten! So, since we've been back, I cleaned, and cleaned, did loads of laundry, while Holly painted both rooms. We are waiting for the woodwork to get put back. We picked out new carpet and have it laid in each room. So, I'm hopeful by this weekend it will be time to put the furniture back.

Sorry for such a long post, but it's been a busy month! Needless to say no cross stitching has been happening. I'm beginning to have withdrawals I think!!

Take care, and happy stitching.
