Words can't describe the dust

Hello stitching friends!

It seems like forever since my last post. A lot has happened around here. I mentioned that Mike and David were embarking on gutting our living room, and computer room. Well, they started on the Saturday before Easter. I had (foolishly) thought Easter dinner would happen. Well, with the massive amounts of dust rolling around, dinner wasn't going to happen while plaster and lathe were still coming down.

Holly and I left with my niece Barb on Monday morning after Easter to head off on a road trip to visit friends in North Carolina. North Topsail Beach, actually. I felt pretty guilty taking off and leaving Mike and David home with the big job going on.

But the boys thought it would be much easier to work on the house with Holly and I out of the way...bless them.

We stopped in Mount Airy,NC on our way out. It is the town that the Andy Griffith show was based on. That has always been one of our favorite shows. It was a fun stop.

Holly had to pose sitting at Andy's desk in the Courthouse. We also stopped at Floyd's Barber Shop and met the barber that the character of Floyd was based from! He is 95 years old and still cutting hair. He was such a sweetheart to visit with us.

A replica of the Darlings cabin was there too.

We arrived at our friends lovely beach side home in North Topsail. What a location...the ocean across from your front door, and the intercostal waterway outside your back door.... They were such gracious hosts. We had such a nice visit with them.

This was the view from their kitchen window.

And a view of the intercostal waterway from their back deck.

On the drive home we stopped in Memphis TN for a day. Barb made reservations at The Peabody Hotel. What a nice stay that was!

I had to play tourist a take some pictures of the famous Peabody ducks leaving the fountain in the lobby to go back to their home on the rooftop. It was quite the event.

We didn't visit any stitching shops on our trip...I know total shocker!? But we had a great time.

And, I know you're wondering what we came home to....? Well, the guys worked like crazy and had all the drywall up and primed. I couldn't believe how far they had gotten! So, since we've been back, I cleaned, and cleaned, did loads of laundry, while Holly painted both rooms. We are waiting for the woodwork to get put back. We picked out new carpet and have it laid in each room. So, I'm hopeful by this weekend it will be time to put the furniture back.

Sorry for such a long post, but it's been a busy month! Needless to say no cross stitching has been happening. I'm beginning to have withdrawals I think!!

Take care, and happy stitching.
