Chilly morning!

Good morning!

I got up early enough today for some coffee drinking before work, and some blog reading.  Ranger has decided this needs to be halted so I can cuddle her.  She is cold as well.  I am not turning the heat up. We've been fluctuating between days that are too warm for Spring and now we have chilly ones on tap for this week.

I had a lovely Mother's Day.  The kids were here and brought food with them, so no cooking for me!  That was more than fine with me, since cooking isn't my favorite thing to do.... Lol.

They surprised me with some lovely gifts. A beautiful lightweight pot that looks like a heavy glazed pottery one for the deck, and a lantern for some outdoors candlelight.

Then, someone must have noticed my enchantment (lust) for the fairy garden, because I got my own!!

I just love it.  They put a lot of thought into this project!  Notice they included a chair on the beach for stitching and reading?  They know their mom well!  There is a tiny basket with needlework supplies next to the chair!  The kids know I love lighthouses and nautical things.  I've always wished I lived near the water.
Here is a closer photo of the beach.

Then one last picture, notice the tiny bottle washed up next to the red and white lighthouse?  It contains a message saying Mom....  How cool is that?

I finished the Mr and Mrs piece for my friend on Monday, so now I can resume stitching the summer sampler.

Hope you all had a fun weekend, it's the middle of the week again already! Now it's time to head off to work.  We are busy at the library these days.  I had our board meeting last night, so today will be spent on follow up tasks from that.  The staff are busy working on summer reading program plans.  Due to the number of snow days used this past winter the kids won't be out of school til the end of the first week in June.  That is late for here.  They are usually done before Memorial Day.

Happy Stitching friends!

Happy Mother's Day

Hello Stitchy Friends!

I hope all of you that celebrate it will have a pleasant Mother's Day tomorrow.  I am looking forward to it.  Ever since I became a Mom, 26 years ago, it has been one of my favorite holidays.  From the early years when they would come home from school clutching a secret present made at school to this year when for the first time We welcome into our family a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law to be!  I feel truly blessed.  There is such a wonderful feeling seeing your children happy in life.

We went to the nursery today to pick out some plants, and it was obviously THE place to be!  Lots of people were there taking advantage of a beautiful Saturday.

I chose this beautiful hanging basket for the deck.

Then we found this cute little set of clay pots that mount on a metal bar.  So when we got home, mike hung it up for me while I planted the pots.

I have to share a picture of this adorable fairy garden that was a birthday gift to our future daughter in law.  Her sister created it.  I thought it was so cute!  There is even a tiny tea set on a little wooden table!  We were at her birthday party last weekend, and had a great time.

I have been diligently stitching on Mr. & Mrs. This week.  I don't particularly like stitching something twice, but a friend of mine saw the one I made for Holly and Joe, and asked me to stitch it for her daughters wedding.  I agreed, and have it close to being done.  I want to finish it by Monday, so she will have time to get it framed before their wedding.

I did finish stitching the Spring sampler by LHN.  I think I mentioned that in my last post but neglected to share a picture.

Please excuse the wrinkles.  I have the summer sampler about half done now.  So I will press them both when I finish.  The best thing about these is that I can usually find a ready made frame for them.  That doesn't happen often!

I took several pieces to my LNS for their framing sale, so I will have some finishes to share one of these days!

  Harry says hi!  Happy stitching!

hello..anyone still there?

Hello Stitching Friends.

It seems I have not been a good blogger this Spring.  I feel that my mojo for blogging and attending our stitch group gatherings has left me.  I need to get back on the bandwagon!

The big wedding day in our family has come and gone.  But, I have to say, the day was glorious!  The weather cooperated as well.  It was windy, and a little chilly, but overall not bad for this Spring!!

I have some pictures to share.  So, I hope I won't bore you with some wedding pictures.

Here is Holly and her Dad, making their way to the bridge for the start of the ceremony.

Here is the wedding couple saying their vows.  We had a last minute change of plans, on Thursday, we found out the person that was to conduct the ceremony couldn't do it.  So, Holly's brother, David agreed to become a certified online minister, and he conducted the ceremony for them.  He did a great job.  Their vows were very touching.  I noticed in a few of the pictures David was having trouble keeping his composure.  Many of the rest of us had tears leaking....!  What can I say?  It's easy to cry at weddings!  Holly and Joe have know each other since she was in high school, dated and then broke up, but last year got back together.  So, they had an interesting road in their journey together, but I am glad it all came together for them with a happy ending.

This last picture is of the flower girl, daughter of a friend of Holly's, and the ring bearer, son of another friend of Holly's.  They were adorable.  They both did a good job.  The flower girl's Mom, carried her, while helping her drop rose petals.  The ring bearer also did a good job!

A good friend of ours did the photography for us.  He took a ton of pictures, I have to do some work with them selecting which ones to share with family, and which ones we want to print.

I hope I haven't bored you too much with wedding details.  Next post I promise to have some stitching pictures to share.

I have been doing some stitching.  I finished the Spring sampler by Little House Needleworks, and have moved onto the Summer sampler by LHN as well.

Hope you are all having a good Spring.  Spring-like weather has been very elusive here in Illinois this year.  Many days with below average temps.  I am sure being Illinois, we will skip temperate days of Spring and move right into Summer....

Happy Stitching!
